Golf Drouot - Vinyl Joblottin' ep.23

Each week on Vinyl Joblottin’ we buy a bundle of vinyl at auction (or find one in a record shop, charity shop, car boot sale, etc). The records are a slice of a collection, giving us a glimpse into a collector’s past. Then we spin each joblot into a theme for you.

Welcome to Vinyl Joblottin'

These records were released in France between 1962 and 1964. When I began listening and researching them they led to the 9th arrondissement of Paris. On the corner of rue Drouot and Boulevard Montmartre, above the Café d'Angleterre, I found France’s ‘Temple of Rock’. It was called Golf Drouot, and hosted such great names as Johnny Hallyday, Eddy Mitchell, Gene Vincent, the Who and David Bowie.

Alban Low is your Joblotter. Part of the 'A World in London' radio series. This Joblot of 7 records cost £6.26.
