The Big Sleep - ep.91 The Vinyl Thread

Welcome to The Vinyl Thread with Natalie Low. Death may sound like a depressing subject, but while there is still sadness and grief in these songs there are other emotions too like love, friendship, celebration, and remembrance. Join Natalie for 20 minutes of vinyl, as she spins flea market finds and auction lots into a themed selection for you to enjoy.

Nicknames - Vinyl Joblottin' ep.5

Welcome to Vinyl Joblottin'
Listen to episode 5 here - https://www.mixcloud.com/AlbanLow/nicknames-vinyl-joblottin-ep5/

Each week on Vinyl Joblottin’ we buy a bundle of vinyl at auction (or find one in a record shop, charity shop, car boot sale, etc). The records are a slice of a collection, giving us a glimpse into a collector’s past. Then we spin each joblot into a theme for you.

Nearly all of us have had a nickname given to us. Usually they evolve from our first names or surnames but sometimes it’s because of a funny incident or an accidental mispronounciation. My nicknames have included Orbs, All-Bran, Bourbon, and at my first job after university I was called Al Bowlly. This week I’ve found a joblot of 6 records from musicians who all have nicknames (or titles). Listen to their music and discover the stories behind their names.

This episode features records from a joblot of 6 records that cost £4.10. Alban Low is your joblotter for this 20 minute episode.
