Each week on Vinyl Joblottin’ we buy a bundle of vinyl at auction (or find one in a record shop, charity shop, car boot sale, etc). The records are a slice of a collection, giving us a glimpse into a collector’s past. Then we spin each joblot into a theme for you.

Most joblots contain about 5-20 records in each bundle. Recently, a large shipping container of more than 30,000 records has arrived on the scene from Japan. The seller has split them into lots of 80 or so records and a frenzied bidding war has ensued. I was lucky to win one such battle and take my first foray into the world of Japanese vinyl.
