We extended International Women’s Day into a Week by filling the Resonance FM studio with inspirational women yet again! Tuca Milan, Bea Shantifa, Marta Riccardi, and Alba Cabral brought their fabulous, ferocious, feel-good vibes onto this AWIL in the form of LET DRUM BEAT! The band members have all just returned from restorative trips to their countries of origin  - Brazil, Italy, and Benin - refreshed and infused with new musical vigour. Their connection to home abroad and home in London is processed magnificently through their compositions, encompassing Afro-Brazilian percussion and dynamic rhythms, counterpointed with soft vocal harmonies. Their songs are sung in Portuguese, as well as  the ‘lost’ language Tupi-Guarani, reviving the culture of indigenous tribes almost wiped out by years of colonization in Brazil. Let Drum Beat’s arsenal of amazing instruments tantalises another voyage of discovery through the arched bow of berimbau, kalimba thumb-piano, and an array of beads & goats nails(!) sounding like water-drops. With their mastery, or miss-tery, of these instruments, unique global vision, and Amazonian energy, Let Drum Beat collect & connect the world’s continents in the most colourful kaleidoscope of music! LET the rhythm pulse through your body. Take a DRUM of your choice. Create the BEAT and play to the world.
