Customers at Waitrose Kings Cross are treated to a free jazz concert every Thursday night. The London
Granary Square store is part of a recent re-development of the area
next to the Regent’s Canal. The store (a converted railway
engine-shed) is a meeting point for listeners warming up their evening with a cheeky Chablis or fiery Barbera before reaching out into London's nightlife.
MARTA CAPPONI Italian-born jazz
vocalist Marta Capponi began her jazz studies in Rome at the
prestigious Saint Louis College of Music. Although a student she was
already a busy working musician, and it wasn't long before her
precocious talent was being heard alongside a wide array of
established Italian and US jazz artists. By the time she left college
she was already well known on the Italian jazz scene and she could
soon be heard at high-profile venues and festivals around Italy,
including the likes of Umbria Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter, Ravello Jazz
Festival, Spoleto Festival die Due Mondi, Casa del Jazz, Villa
Celimontana and Auditorium Parco della Musica. Looking for musical
challenges further afield, in 2012 Marta moved to London, bringing
with her an eclectic and remarkable repertoire, from classic jazz
standards and pop to folk and Brazilian music.

"Her singing is fluent, powerful and captivating, and she
has a stage presence to match"
